I had a really strong background to work with, but learning the technical aspects of racing has been really fun. I've actually exceeded my expectations. I'll be 42 in March, so this is a fun thing to be doing at this point in my life.

It's just a strategy that our district and other districts have started to employ. We're trying to ensure that we have a pool of qualified applicants by offering those opportunities in February or March rather than in August. Because by August, many of those candidates have found jobs.
