arm building
He's building up his arm strength. He's getting there. He's right on schedule.
beyond cost hopefully plays security short term
Hopefully there's one more (contract) at least beyond this one. We'll just have to see how it plays out. For the short term here, he's got a little security and we have a little cost certainty.
fight
He was completely on board. There wasn't a fight there.
available cardinals clubs days few ready word
He was ready to come up to Triple-A, and right now we really didn't have anything for him. We put the word out that he was available a few days ago, and a few clubs responded. The Cardinals were the most persistent.
arm building feels hitters league needs strength
He just needs to keep building his arm strength to where he feels comfortable that he can get big league hitters out.
bat definite few frame good great guy hopefully looks positive swinging trying
He looks like the same guy he was a few years ago. We're trying to keep him healthy, and so far, so good. He's swinging the bat well, and he's in a good frame of mind. Everything has been positive from him. Hopefully (the injuries) are over with. He's still a definite threat. I think he'll have a great year.
three
We tossed around the idea of having three catchers anyway.
days early last three
The last thing I want to do is put him in three days early and he's out for two months. I'm not alarmed by it at all.
anyone help move timetable win
Nothing will be done soon. There's no timetable here. He's on the team. He can help us win games. Just like anyone else, you have conversations and if something makes sense, you move forward. That's not just with Tony.
announce comment
If I had something to announce, we would announce it. I can't comment on another club's player.
best days early judge last miss three
He's very close. He's the best judge of that. The last thing I want to do is have him go out three days too early and have a setback and miss two months.
exposing fits phases
He's a quick-read guy. We're exposing him to all phases of the operation. We'll see where he fits in.
bit career days fact home humbled humbling limbo played wondering
He's got a little bit of a reputation, but I think the fact that he hasn't played in 10 days and his whole career has been in limbo - I think he would even tell you he was a little humbled by this. Sometimes that has a way of humbling you, when you're out there and you don't have a home and you're wondering where your career is going.
general guys liked manager paid people similar standpoint took
I liked what I heard, very much so. We have similar backgrounds from the standpoint of, it took him many years to become a manager and it took me many years to become a general manager. So we're the kind of guys that people would look at as, we've paid our dues, so to speak.
