breakdown close games hurts mental work
To think back on those games that we have lost, the close games, it hurts you. It hurts you to know what we could do better. We put so much work into it and then come into the game and just have a mental breakdown offensively and defensively. We just want to scream.

It would have sounded crazy to people outside of this basketball team, but we believed. We didn't come here to play one or two games. We came to win a championship.

Every time we made a run, I made a bad play. We couldn't get control of our offense because I didn't have control of the team. I didn't do my job out there and that reflected on the whole basketball team. I take full responsibility. Those guys were counting on me, and I didn't come through.

Same old story, same old story. We just can't get it. It's crazy. It's so frustrating. It's frustrating to the high degree, to be out there knowing we can win and coming out on the losing end all the time.

I've agreed with that since I've been here. I've looked back at the last couple of years, and I've had flaws in my game, whether that's defense or getting more physical. I'm going to definitely have to show these guys who the man is.

I don't think it was fatigue. They just rimmed out, hit the back of the rim. When we really needed shots in the end, guys stepped up and made key shots.

From the outside (people) probably think this is an upset all over again. It just happened, we're not a good team, we just came in and played good basketball, it wasn't Florida's night. People will say we won two games over them, but if we played them again it wouldn't be like that.

I was struggling the last few games with my shooting, but it didn't feel off. So, tonight I concentrated and had my feet set and was able to hit the shots.

I told the guys, we didn't deserve to win games then. Now, I think we do.

It's the same old story. We just can't seem to find it down the stretch. We always seem to have a mental lapse.

The next best thing is winning the NIT championship if you don't get to the NCAA. There's only two teams that win their last game ? and we're one of them for the last two years and that says a lot. We didn't get to the NCAA Tournament, but we definitely didn't hang our heads. We had some veterans, some leaders ... to tell these guys, 'Man, we're here to win it.' And we did.

You think about 20-win seasons. Since I've been here, we've had two. It's so frustrating you can't explain it.

I've got something to show this year. I've got something to really prove. I think I will earn respect this year. It's that time to step up and be that player I can be. I have to be ready to step into that role. They're depending on me to be the leader this year. I have to show those qualities of being a leader.
