banner couple great happen special
It was awesome. Everyone was getting a little tingly when the banner was going up. It was a great feeling. Great for us to be part of something like this and it was even more special for me because I got to play with him for a couple of years and it couldn't happen to a better guy.
win
It was a must win for us. We really wanted it bad. We really didn't play like it.
early goal jump kept knew loss night team tough
We knew they were vulnerable, they had a tough loss the other night and we knew they had a new goalie. And with a team like that, you've got to jump on them early and that's what we did. We got the first goal and we just kept going from there.
against couple gave good lead learned lesson pieces teams
We're in a good place. A couple of times against good teams we had a third-period lead and we gave it up. We learned the lesson and put the pieces together.
against anybody believe chance given ourselves teams written
I think all 29 other teams have written us off and given us no chance at all. We have to believe in ourselves and not back down against anybody like we showed tonight.
against arm close imagine impossible leg played rules stick stop trying
I played against him a lot before the new NHL rules, and he was impossible to stop then. Now you can't put a stick on his arm or his leg or anything. I can't imagine trying to stop him now. He is as close to unstoppable as you can probably get.
best close damage fix four guess hockey last line played three
I guess we're kind of teetering on that line right now. Obviously, we haven't played close to our best hockey in the last three or four games. And if we want to do some damage in the playoffs, we're going to have to fix that soon. Real soon.
guess line
I guess we're kind of teetering on that line right now.
cheering expect guy handling keeps loose team tough ultimate
He's the ultimate team guy. When he's not playing, he's the first guy cheering for us on the bench. What you kind of expect to do something and you don't get to do it, it's tough for you. He's been handling it great. He's a loose guy and he keeps you loose.
definitely easier execute game guys plan practicing purpose seems shooting systems year
This year we're definitely practicing a lot more. We see drills that we're doing for a purpose, not just shooting and passing. (In the past), the guys didn't know what the systems were or what was going on. Now it seems like we're focused. It makes it easier for us on the ice, to have a game plan and to try and go out and execute it.
buried chances hit late puck three wide
We had 15 or 20 chances. The puck bounced, went wide of the net, hit the net. They had three chances late and buried them all.
help playing waiting
When we're playing that team, we have to play a patient, waiting game. We didn't give Weekes much help at all.
harder legs might parade stupid
We did some stupid things we need to fix; it was a parade to the box. Especially back-to-back nights, we had no legs at the end. Because we're young, the refs might be harder on us.
beat defensive offensive trap trouble worked
I thought we worked pretty well together. We never really got into too much trouble in the defensive zone, we were able to beat the trap pretty well and, in the offensive zone, we were able to do a lot of damage.
