challenge conditions environment extreme home inside issues maybe playing progress record relating stepping taken talked teams time true yard
Being and playing away from home is something we've talked about at length. We're making some progress on the issues relating to it. It's true of every team. Conditions are very extreme in Sri Lanka, that's why all teams have difficulties playing there. Sri Lanka know their back yard inside out, but stepping out of that environment is a challenge for them and maybe one they haven't taken as well as they could have. Now is the time to set the record straight.
hard home india momentum playing
The momentum India get while playing at home is different, which makes it hard for visitors.
cancer cup fatal fitness fought himself playing remember simon struck teammate
I remember Simon O'Donnell being struck with cancer during Australia's 1987 World Cup campaign. I know very well what it is like to have a teammate who has been struck with a potentially fatal disease. He fought through: managed to get himself back to 100% fitness and back to playing again.
cup next preparing
Again, like Pakistan, we are preparing for the World Cup next year.
reviewed tactic track
It wasn't a tactic and . . . it's something we've reviewed and we won't be going down that track again.
ball england expect round surprise tactic whistling
It will be no surprise to find the ball whistling round our ears. We expect it and actually we'd be alarmed if we didn't get it. It's a tactic that England use.
ball enjoy facing players prepare surprise whistling
It will be no surprise that the ball will be whistling around our ears. We will prepare accordingly. A lot of our players enjoy facing pace.
aware certainly
They'll certainly have to be aware of it fielding on the boundary.
approach bit fair perfect
We have a fair idea how we would like to approach it but we are going with a little bit of uncertainty as to what is the perfect way of approaching the new regulations,
bit confidence good pace positive time tough
Fernando's had a bit of a tough time with injury. He's come back well and bowled with good pace and fire. His confidence is up and that's a good positive for Sri Lanka.
percent risk unless
We do not want to risk Chaminda (Vaas) unless he is 100 percent fit.
australia ball best bit both boundaries cricket dry few finals game series square stretch suit sydney turn wickets
Both wickets can take a little bit of turn, particularly Adelaide, having had such a dry summer. The ball may turn a little bit more there, and the (shorter) square of the wicket boundaries also probably suit a few of our batsmen. But we are still going to have to play our best cricket to stretch Australia to the limit. We did that well in Sydney and we know going into the finals series that's the game we have to play.
example great happy squad trains
The way he trains is an example for any cricketer and professional. The whole squad is happy for him. It is great for him and great for Sri Lankan cricket.
shame
It would be a shame if he didn't come back, but I think he will.
