admirable good guard hard job knocked plain plays recover season teams time work
You have to be able to make good plays on just about every possession. They don't get rattled. So many times this season they've knocked teams out in the first quarter. Teams have to work so hard to recover from that. By the time they do that, the game's over. Those are things we have to guard against. We've done an admirable job of that the first two times, but it wasn't enough, plain and simple.
ability gates knock punch quarter served several teams
Batavia has the ability to come out of the gates and knock you out. They've served the knockout punch several times in the first quarter and teams haven't been able to counter.
liked problems second selection shot shots
I liked the way we got after it in the first half. (In the first quarter), we shot better. The same shots were there in the second half, but we just couldn't get them to go down for us. I didn't have any problems with our shot selection (in this game).
achieve boys goals happy hard mark worked
It was one of our goals to get to the 20-win mark and I was really happy for the boys that they were able to get that done. They worked real hard to achieve that.
hardly trace tried
We tried to get Shaun involved. In the first half, there was hardly a trace that he even played.
chop felt last seconds time
We wanted to chop up those last 16 seconds with some fouls. We felt Gabe (Landau) got one at the time line, but it wasn't called. So (Henderson) penetrated and got right down the lane.
defensive excellent job keeping length looked scoreboard series stops time
Every time I looked at the scoreboard even after a series of defensive stops we were always down by 10 points. Batavia just has so much depth, and they did an excellent job of keeping us at arm's length all night.
defend four game last lost minutes rebound shot won
Everyone will look at the last shot that didn't go for us that would've won it. But we lost the game in the last four minutes when we couldn't defend or get that big rebound to keep them at arm's length.
whoever
This is one of those games, whoever had it last. And I wanted to have it last.
basketball effort game great hard knew loss offensive respect walk
After the effort we gave, it makes it hard (after a game like this). It's hard to walk away with a loss when you give it your all, but we knew who we were playing. We respect them and we know they're a great offensive basketball team. We've got to get better.
best boys effort energy pick time
The boys put so much time and energy and effort into that game. To have it not go your way, it does take some time to come back and try to pick up the pieces. We feel that we've done that to the best of our ability.
five guys playing running sharing
That's when we're at our best, when five guys are playing defense, five guys are running and we're sharing the ball.
both certainly challenges coming direction gave leadership met provide push relying seniors time trying
Coming into this season, I certainly thought that we were going to be relying on our seniors for both leadership and direction on and off the court. Every time I was trying to provide a push for them, they always responded and met the challenges we gave them.
safe
Nothing is for sure, but I would say that's a safe bet.
