The pool was almost like a theater. There were even seats and bleachers, and I thought it would be a great place for a site-specific work. I would take dancers and videotape their movements in the water. Then I would re-project the video back into the pool. ... That's when I came up with the working title 'Aqueous.' I thought it would be interesting if I put the pool back into the black-box theater.

All the water presented us with the problem of how we could move aggressively on a slippery floor. I was very concerned about their safety. We found out we had to be more athletic, find a different center of gravity. There's a lot less leaping, less spinning and less turning. It's like dancing on a large Slip 'n' Slide.
