I've had so much positive reaction and emotional fulfillment from the creation of my art and sharing it with everyday people that I never paid too much attention to the opinion of critics.
The whole Modernist lie is that art is about the artist.
My brother and I always had jobs and worked from a young age.
I think each dwelling that I paint is an expression of something that I wish I could have had. For example, I painted a painting with a big, broad porch on it called "Home Is Where the Heart Is." I always dreamed of having a big porch where you'd sit there.
Keep yourself surrounded by a family that loves you. My children have never told me they dislike one of my paintings.
I actively support art programs that teach kids the basics. Painting and drawing are terrific tools to build self-esteem and creativity in children. I'm also very committed to World Vision, an organization that reaches out to impoverished kids the world over. Anything that brings hope to children, I'm in favor of.
Cherish the people who make up your home, and you'll notice the hearth fires burn brighter than ever before.

A painting has a lot of advantages over other forms of communication. Unlike a movie, you don't have to put it into a machine and turn it on. It's just there every day. It's not limited by the element of time. It's a constant part of the home.
People who put my paintings on their walls are putting their values on their walls: faith, family, home, a simpler way of living, the beauty of nature, quiet, tranquillity, peace, joy, hope. They beckon you into this world that provides an alternative to your nightly news broadcast.
I was always the kid who could draw. I had this talent, and it was the one thing that gave me some kind of dignity in the midst of my personal environment.
I view art as an inspirational tool.
Steeping my life in beauty brings color to my days and a song to my heart
To be romantic is quite simply to allow yourself to fall in love with life - all of life - and experience it fully, openly, passionately, and purposefully
