She plays the whole game, she's always moving forward and she's opportunistic in front of the goal. When you have a player of her ability with the passion she has for the game, it's contagious for the whole team.

That was probably our best chance and we took advantage of it. Like them we had our share of chances but the defenses and the keepers kept coming up big.

That's the way the games always go. The players have a lot of pride and take this seriously. There's a lot of pride on the Newsome sideline. They've been to a final four. It's the same here.

She really impressed me as our captain. She really stepped up and made everyone feel okay. She didn't show disappointment (after losing in the finals) and she let her teammates know how proud she was of them.

We have been knocking on the door for the last three or four years. We feel this team was knocking on the door last year and that we had a stronger team this year. We wanted it.

For me, it was one of her best moments. She was trying to round everybody up and trying to make everybody feel good about their season and what they did.

It was a through ball and Kelsey had a lot of effort. Kelsey's strong and powerful, and she made a great run.

They were real nervous in the beginning. We got more into a rhythm, realized we could play with them and then I think our fitness helped us a lot.
heart lost match pride surgery third year
They were very sad. But we haven't had her all year long. (Thursday) was just her third match after surgery on her knee. We lost her after the first match of the season. But she's the heart and pride of this team.
