We're to the point, ... where if it's a close game late, something good is going to happen for our side.
We're not in the upper echelon by any means. We've got to scrape and claw for any victories we can get. I think our guys know we've got to play well. We don't have to play perfectly, but we need to play well to beat these guys.
We were fortunate ... their safety, Lynn Hughes, fell down,
We've had teams that want to come visit us, and what we say is we'll provide some tape. You can come and watch tape. But as coaches, we don't sit down and go over every detail with them. I think that's the way it should be almost everywhere.
We don't need a lot of cookies on Thursday afternoon before games. No, my background as a coach, we've never liked showering the guys with a lot of praise before the game. I don't know how that helps.
Welcome Coach Spurrier. He was always a little cocky.
We're trying to make it a positive, ... We're trying to tell them . . . it's a big game for us. This is not just another game. This is a big game because we're in the national spotlight. We appreciate this opportunity, and let's take advantage of it. Let's try to show some high school kids out there what Carolina football is all about.
We believe it is a very similar recruiting class to last year. You never know until about five years from now. We certainly feel the offensive lineman, the defensive lineman and a few players here and there will help our team immediately.
I told them it's OK to root for the Gators, ... but don't root too loud. I told them don't wear orange and blue because they're going to be sitting in our section.
It's one of the top stadiums in the country. No question. I think it's the largest in the South, so it can get very loud, of course.
It's probably the best team they have had in a long time in Nashville, ... A very competitive team that has won four and had a chance to win about one or two others. They will be a big challenge for us.
It's unfortunate but he's suspended indefinitely, and he's probably finished unless something reveals a different story from what happened.
Daccus should give us some toughness running the ball that we didn't have last week, ... Our team right now is looking for some tough guys who love to compete and maybe hate losing. Daccus is a tough guy, and he'll add a lot to our offense blocking, running the ball and maybe challenging our offensive linemen to get their butts going, things like that. We're glad to have him back.
Everybody at South Carolina sends our hearts and prayers to the victims there in the Gulf Coast states. Our football game is not really all that important compared to the devastation that these people have suffered.
