appreciate build cars drive learn work
He was really the one that got me into racing. When I first started racing, he said, 'Boy, if you're going to drive these cars, you're going to learn to work on them. You have to build the trailer, build the cars and the motors and do it all.' For me it makes me appreciate it a lot more.
came car chance clean draft drove fence field finish front happened kept knocked lead looked nose solid starting stayed turned until wall win
Starting from the back was a disadvantage. But we drove through the field and then stayed in the lead draft and kept our nose clean most of the day. It really looked like we were going to have a good, solid finish until something happened to the #2 car (Kurt Busch). I don't know if he got into the wall or if someone turned him into the fence but he came down in front of us and knocked the nose off the car. Our chance for a win was done after that.
dull experience fans fun good great love moment race racing short thinking
I love racing these short tracks. It's fun and exciting, and a great show for the fans and drivers. There's never a dull moment out there. It's as much about experience and thinking as it is about a good race car.
harry might run win
I'll probably run two more years. If I can still win me some races, I might do it some more. You know, Harry Gant was still competitive at 54.
believe hit
I know he didn't know what hit him, but I couldn't believe it.
farm kinda putter sounds
I know it sounds kinda crazy, but working on the farm is something I enjoy. I like to get out and just putter around.
chance couple few plan races run team win
I know I can still win races and feel like this team will give me a chance to do that. I plan to run only a couple more years, and I'd like to win a few more before I'm done.
capable car drive few last race winning
I know I can still drive a race car and I know I'm capable of winning races. That's what was so frustrating about the last few years.
blame brakes cooler everybody fan guess hit looked oil sliding switch
I just looked over to switch the oil cooler fan off and when I looked up everybody was stopped. I hit the brakes and started sliding but I couldn't get it stopped. I guess I'll take the blame for it.
deal everybody fender guess knew saw time tire track
I guess everybody saw it. It's a deal where I'd been racing cars a long time and I knew going around the track the fender was on the tire hard.
believe coming daytona gate guess honestly win
I guess you could say I like coming out of the gate strong. Hopefully, it will be the same with my new ride. I honestly believe we're going to go to the Daytona 500 and win it.
car feels good
The car feels real good and we've got good motors. So far, so good.
came car felt fitted forms good guy guys indy kinda shop stuff
A guy came to the shop every day. A lot of guys put the foam like stuff that forms to you, kinda like the Indy car guys run. He fitted it up and it felt real good, so we're going to try to run it.
bad crew free great job quite
All-in-all, it wasn't a bad afternoon. Doug (Randolph, crew chief) did a great job in the pits making changes. We just started off really free and could never quite get it where we wanted it.
