ahead challenges lots practiced prepared sort tested theory
We practiced lots and lots of tasks, we were prepared to do a lot things that we'd never done before, and that theory was sort of tested on this, and that's sort of the whole idea of going into space. You don't really know what your challenges are going to be ahead of time, so you practice everything you can think of.
gentle pull saw slightly
There won't be any yanking going on at all. It will be a gentle pull with my hand. If that doesn't work, I have some forceps. I will give it a slightly more than gentle pull. If that doesn't work, I saw it off with a hacksaw.

That's a fantastic step forward. The next step is to be able to repair any damage we happen to have found. Our shuttle didn't require any repair, just a tiny little dental flossing of plucking a couple of gap fillers out.
