areas forward good innings moving runs shape touch
We're in pretty good shape moving forward but I think we have got to get better still. There are some areas we need to touch up - we probably need 10 runs or so more each innings and more strike-power when we bowl.
formula lifetime loss player players replicate three whether
What we have to try to do is find a way to replicate that. Whether that's through one player, two players or even three players, we have to try to find a formula for making up for a loss of a player who is a once in a lifetime player.
dependency following guys power rather strike taking
There's been a dependency on Shane with his strike power and the guys have been following up rather than taking the lead.
boos county crowds games good mean meant otherwise result spectacle success
There were some boos and jeers about what we did. But it did not only mean we got the result we needed; it meant everyone got a spectacle when there otherwise would not have been one. After England's success this summer, the crowds need to see good games of county cricket.
africa expecting south
South Africa will still be very tough, you don't come here expecting anything less.
concern injury pace plenty time
His pace does make a difference. There is plenty of time but the concern is that this injury has been around for a while and there has been no real improvement.
again aggressive bit found good handy lead ourselves position strength
We may have been a bit too aggressive but once again we have found ourselves in a position of strength. A 140-run lead, and if we put another 60 on, a 200-run lead is very handy and a good position to be.
bowlers dangerous
He is one of the world's quickest and most dangerous bowlers at the moment,
along confidence runs somewhere
He'll give them confidence and he'll give them runs somewhere along the way in this series.
good performance
We're pretty happy, it was a good performance.
convincing morning shows tale test tricky
Statistically it's convincing enough, but I think the tale of the Test shows that it was really about the morning sessions, about the new ball, about getting through that tricky period.
bowlers dominated feeling felt left morning session wanting
The feeling was the morning session was going to play a part, we felt it was brewing, the bowlers dominated and our footwork was too hesitant, it was left wanting and that's something we have to address.
africa bank cash game maybe needed played position south
I needed everything I could get. We probably should have got more, because the follow-on was our only real chance. Maybe if we'd been bowled out for 350, the game would still have been alive, but we played well enough to be in a position where we had to get South Africa out twice, so we needed as much cash in the bank as possible.
coming feeling hard sure tactics
I'm not too sure what their tactics were (but) I never got the feeling that were they coming hard at us.
