goes monkey season
Our season goes up and down and we are going to find a way to get it back. We don't have a monkey on our back. We have a gorilla.
great paul players ricky shoot surprises tonight
They made shots. They've got two great players in Ricky and Paul who can shoot off the dribble, so nothing they did tonight really surprises me.
allow ball defensive drawing effort harder learned learning lost process team tuesday understand
This (loss) really doesn't sting. But it's a learning process for us. We learned that when we allow a team to play harder than us, this can happen. We understand why we lost this ball game. We had so many defensive lapses. We'll regroup, go back to the drawing board, and come back Tuesday with a better effort than we had tonight.
downs intensity lack tend ups
I think as long as we have intensity, then we'll be fine. All ups and downs come from lack of intensity, and as long as we have intensity for 48 minutes, we're fine. When we lack that intensity, we tend to struggle.
battle fan favorite great hollywood james kobe magic main man norm
I was always a Laker fan - Magic Johnson, James Worthy, my main man Norm Nixon. Kobe Bryant's my favorite player. It would be the battle of Hollywood - it would be great for the city.
affects ball bit excuse expect normally percent shots time
It affects me a little bit because I'm used to having the ball 90 percent of the time on the court, but I can't use that as an excuse at all. I've got to find a way. I'm getting shots that I normally make, but they're not going in. I just can't go 1-for-12 and expect us to be successful.
communication properly result second zone
I think it was our communication on defense. When we do that, we're at our best. When we don't communicate, we get our butts whipped. It's just that simple. In the first half, we weren't communicating properly and they were having their way with us. In the second half, we went to the zone and communicated better, and the result was a 20-point win.
depend player stepping
He's become a player who's not just out there playing, but someone we depend on. We depend on him. He's been stepping up for us.
against battling
He was in there battling against the big guys. He got them. Rebounding is about desire.
easy job stuff
I just told him, the first day I got here, I'll make his job look easy. The stuff he does, I'll make it come easy to him.
coming couple days games night ready rest talked took
It was just precaution, nothing major. We've got a couple of games coming up at home, so I talked with Mike, and took the night off to heal. I'll get two days rest and I'll be ready to play Friday.
defense effort game gave team took win won
How are you not going to get up to play in the Garden. I try to win and I took what the defense gave me. It's a team effort that's why we won the game tonight.
confidence giving leader win
I come in here as the leader and just giving us that confidence that we can win on a nightly basis.
career direction history satisfying year
He told me it wasn't so much about the organization and the history here. It was about the direction of the team. This is an up-coming team. He told me I'd have the most satisfying year of my career here.
