We tried to keep the momentum on our side and control the tempo. We don't normally play a run and gun style, so I was surprised that when we sped up the game, it actually worked in our favor.

We expected that our earnings from operations would be lower this quarter due to costs and expenses related to branding and operating on our own. Our current fiscal 2000 branding plan continues to call for spending of around the $140 million we mentioned in February. While we have more work to do in establishing our brand globally, we have made good progress.

Everyone is in agreement Bret will be a great fit for our staff. He has the background to do some great things with our offensive line and the offense as a whole.

And Mike wanted to be more sensitive to his team and be more collaborative, but that wasn't him. Ultimately, it's not a matter of which style works better than the other. When you come here and the expectations are really high then the failure hurts that much worse. You want it so much for the kids. When things don't work out the way you planned, it's frustrating and upsetting. Things didn't work out for us in the morning and then it just snowballed. We were never able to get out of it. But we had great effort and the underclassmen got a lot of experience.

What's coming up in the future is very exciting but a little crazy for the consumer, ... Today there are no standards for various home devices to communicate together. So you'll see a lot of really neat technology appear, but the challenge for consumers is how to get it all to work together.

To see that the work is still going on is a blessing. Being able to be communicate with the kids and make friends was also a great blessing.

We work with the school police a lot when it comes to graffiti, because most of the graffiti artists are juveniles. They keep an eye in the schools, look at the writing on the notebooks ... and they get a feel for who might be doing these.
