I was mad I got in foul trouble the past two games. But my team had my back in those games. Coach told me to not put my head down and the team needs me. So I went back out and played hard.

We met a lot of people in Detroit and we all got along really well and we were all like-minded. I played bass with the (Detroit) Cobras for awhile and I recorded on the first White Stripes record and sat in with lots of other people. We all kind of came up together. It's an honest association. It's a small collective group of people who played music and were into the same thing before all the hype. We all have the same roots.

We made some mistakes to let this thing get to where it was, but last time I looked, we had more points on the scoreboard. We were playing a top-15 team in the country, and that's no small achievement. It wasn't a work of art, but we won.

Regardless of people's skepticism, I am pursuing what is (and has been) my dream for my own purposes. I appreciate the importance that so many others have placed on this effort, but I would still do it if I was alone and no one was watching.
