It's a total community effort here. All the windows on Friday are painted around town. The crowds are very loud. I don't know how many moms have cowbells around here, but I still can hear it in my ears when I come home Fridays.

They want it. I know the kids want it. This is progress, but the kids want the playoffs.

It's amazing how hard these kids can work day in and day out. They are starting to believe in themselves.

What this is all about is getting a taste of success. It doesn't matter who you beat, once you know what it takes to win, you'll work harder and that opens up other opportunities.

A lot of schools are interested in him because of his speed and strength. He could have gotten a lot more yards Friday, but we didn't want to show too much.

Our first goal was to be 1-0. We've never been 1-0 before, so that was an important step. It was a bit of a sloppy win. But it's a win. If anything, we sowed we can compete against a Group IV school.

He was always pleasant and polite - 'Yes sir, yes ma'am' - but he had that short fuse, ... As he got older, he eventually came to the realization that even though he wasn't the one responsible for where he was (in trouble and in foster care), he was the one who was going to have to (rise above it).

He deserved it. It was us showing him our respect. It was the same amount of respect that he had showed us.

That's always been available in the past, but it was never utilized. They have something to play for now, and that's making them better students and better people in the community. The teachers tell me these are the most behaved and well-mannered group of boys they have seen in years.

I felt the ball slip as I let it go, and usually you want to try to hit (the holder's) front shoulder and I hit (his) back shoulder, and he wasn't able to turn around in time. That's a 1.2-second play, and if anything's off, bad things happen.
clean fun giving glad hearing nice schools town
I'm glad I live here hearing that. They've just really done a lot -- giving us entertainment, to give us nice restaurants, you know, clean streets. The schools are great. It's a fun little town to live in.
