They said they would make that decision on Monday, and I gave my opinion on that.
They are going to make a run at a lot of drivers, and everyone is aware that Kevin's contract is up. I am sure they are going to make a run at him.
It was tough, and it's still tough. It would have been tough on anybody.
If I said what I wanted to say right now I'd probably be in bigger trouble than Todd. All I can say is it's a new era in NASCAR.
It's probably as close a field that you'd want to watch. Once everybody gets in line (in the draft), nobody is going to do anything until their cars starts slipping or getting away a little.
We're making these moves to get a head start on 2006.
We have to build 21 of these cars just to service 2007. It's going to be an expensive deal. But if it puts on a better show and it's safer, I think we all have to support it.
We want to come here to win the Daytona 500, but today winning the pole was a big plus. I'm proud of Jeff for getting on the pole today and it's really great to see RCR back up front. We've won a lot of poles here and have been up front a lot.
It is not a money issue, we both want to get it done. It should happen. It's just a matter of time.
I think some of NASCAR's greatest inspectors are the other race teams.
Kevin will be the driver of the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevy next season. He and I have committed to moving forward together in fulfilling our current agreement, which runs through 2006, and we anticipate being together for many years beyond that.
I think it's going to come down to who has the best handling cars. It's probably as close a field as you'd want to watch.
He's being asked to step into a very difficult situation. If I didn't think he could handle it, I wouldn't ask him to do it.
He did a phenomenal job stepping into the position he was put into. I can't think of many people who could have even handled the pressure that was on him in the beginning.
