backing filling holiday likely proverbial week
This is the proverbial bounce, and it's encouraging that it bounced when it did, but is this the turn? This week there will likely be some backing and filling before the long holiday weekend.

They really do. It makes everyone sit back and think, 'Maybe I didn't do everything I could to win that day.' And maybe it makes a guy do a little soul-searching to check and see whether there's something he can do on a particular day to help. So it is needed.
dug freak late
At first, I slid because he was up there and he jumped at me. I thought I still slid late enough to get in, but as I slid, my spikes dug in. It was one of those freak accidents.
attention leagues performing
It's attention well-deserved. He's performing every day like he's been in the big leagues all his life.
everybody feels forward good looking ready season
It really feels good to have everybody here. We're all looking forward to this season and now we're ready to go.

It's all a matter of confidence. I think it took us taking two out of three against Boston (last week) for us to realize we could be a really good team.

It's not surprising -- they had a rapid move up and now there's a correction. This is the first major correction for this group and it's healthy.
respect stocks swing technology
Then there's the uncertainty with respect to technology stocks - the valuations went sky-high and now it probably has to swing the other way.
bothering growth
It's the same old (story). Growth and inflation. That's what's bothering the market.
few game good last panic pressure pushing whip
This is a different team, with a different attitude. One of the first things skipper did after the game was to say 'so what'. He told us to have a good off day, then come back and try to whip them on Wednesday. It's not like the last few years. There's no pressure on us, and no one is pushing the panic button.
absolutely greatest held knew sale successful
This has been absolutely amazing. It is the greatest sale ever held in this part of the world. After the first day it was so successful we knew it would continue.
although confident greatest sale wildest
Although we were very confident going into this sale, it has surpassed our wildest expectations. This is the greatest sale we've ever seen.
closed last light london sure tends trading week
It sure was a light trading day. London was closed and it's the last week of August, which tends to historically be a light trading period.

They gave him a standing O (ovation) when he went out onto the field the next inning.
