choice detroit name played usa
When Don and I talked, Chris' name popped up immediately. Not only because of how well he has played with Detroit this season, but because of the way he has represented USA Hockey... it made the choice easy.
good guys locker move protects skill tough
We have a lot of different kind of guys in the locker room, but not a lot of guys who are 6-4 and as tough to move as Joe. He's a big guy who really protects that puck, and he's tough to get off of it. He's a skill player, so he should be a good addition.
again against came few firing found happen net period second works
We weren't able to find the back of the net again in the first period, and they found the back of ours. I think that works against you. We came out in the second period and started firing it in the net and found some success. We could've had a few more, but it didn't happen for us.
road time trip trust
Trust me, when (the road trip is) over it'll be time to get home.
fell seemed tonight wrong
It just seemed like something was going to go wrong tonight and it did. We fell down on the first goal.
areas create defend far move moving outing space swedish team toughest
I think by far it was the toughest outing for one of our goaltenders. The Swedish team is so skilled. ... They move to areas well, they put pucks into areas, and they create opportunities through space and moving the puck. It's tough to defend that way ... and when we had breakdowns, he made saves.
best players
I would think that we're going to take the best players available.
against came played spark stronger urgency
I think we came out much better and much stronger tonight. We had more urgency on the puck. We played with a spark that we didn't have against Latvia.
dozen fire half hit night offense post walk
It was a frustrating night for the players, myself, the fans...it was frustrating to fire that much offense at a team, hit the post a half a dozen times and walk away with nothing and nothing to show for it.
expected fatigue game issue last schedule win
It was a fatigue issue tonight. There just wasn't a whole lot of energy. I'm not making excuses, because we had a game on the schedule tonight. It's the last game at the end of a long trip, and we're expected to win that game.
best ended four killer last minute needed penalty plus
In the end, we needed everybody, from all four (penalty) killers at all different times during the kill, plus the goaltender, and the goaltender ended up being the best penalty killer in the last minute and a half.
focus games great playing season time trust whether win winning won
I mean, it's a great accomplishment any time you win your division. I think the focus for us is to keep winning games and playing well. Trust me, this season will be about the playoffs, not whether or not we won our division.
bouncing fight guys liked seem
The first two periods, I really liked the way we played. We had to fight and claw, it didn't seem like it was bouncing our way. The guys went back to work.
control czech highly lies move puck sharp skilled strength
This is a highly skilled (Slovak) team, a lot like the Czech team. They want puck possession. They want to control the play with the puck. They want to move the puck. Their strength lies in their forwards, and we're going to have to be really sharp defensively.
