They're sending me to the Dominican Republic. Then I'll go with T. O. to the Bahamas and do his training program to get myself in shape. When I get back, I'll pitch if we're still in the race. After tomorrow's start, I'm on vacation.
We're facing a good team, a smart team, ... Right now, they're on top of their game and we're not.
We want him to pitch as much as possible.
I just need to regain my command. I was concerned at first that I was not going to be able to go with the team and be healthy.
I hope he loosens up. New York is his hometown, ... Just respect his family.
I didn't feel in command at all. I just grinded,
Only God knows why I didn't make it with the Mets, but yes, in a short period of time, I got the opportunity with the Phillies.
You have to execute. You have to sacrifice your body.
It could happen in any game, but you know what? I don't hold any grudges. He's probably bitter still, but I'm just going to continue to pray for him, and hopefully it will get better, his temper will change. I still have respect for his bat, he's a good hitter and I'm just going to continue to do what I have to do. And I was glad that, when I'm OK, I don't need to hit anybody.
Roger is probably the biggest freak I have ever seen in terms of how he keeps himself in shape. I can't imagine pitching like that at his age.
That ball just got away. That pitch wasn't really that far in. He leaned over (the plate).
I wasn't sure when to push it or what to expect. Now I know what to expect. Hopefully, I'll be able start mixing everything together and see how it goes. As of now, I'm planning on pitching opening day. If not, I'll pitch on the fifth day. I guarantee I'll have one spot in the rotation.
I'm still making a lot of pitches for the amount of innings I'm pitching. When I'm on, I don't need that many pitches. When things start to go wrong, I don't feel that confident about my pitches. They're coming around, but I'm not there yet. So all of the credit goes to my teammates and how well they have done behind me.
If I'm ready to pitch in a Grapefruit League game, why not in the regular season? It's the same thing. You just have to go out there and be patient with the things that happen. Don't worry so much about the results early and make adjustments.
