adding air arm gate grown lock open past station wide
We really couldn't get past where station had grown to without adding this air lock and adding the station arm ... Now that we have those, the gate is wide open for us to keep right on building.

During de-orbit, I'm sure I'll have a thought or two about Rick Husband and his crew. At wheel stop, I'm sure all of us are going to think a lot about the 107 crew.

We are going to be pretty darn happy to get to wheels stop and see this good crew step off. It'll be a huge sense of accomplishment having gotten through the last two years and demonstrated that we still know how to do this very difficult and dangerous business.

everything since the first 10 minutes of the mission has gone perfectly, and most of the stuff that has gone perfectly is stuff we didn't even know how to do 2 1/2 years ago.

We've done more than we've ever done to minimize the risk going uphill. There are still some uncertainties (about repairing the shuttle), but we are still a lot farther down the road than we were two years ago. And that is 20 years after we declared (the repairs) to be technically impossible.

Today was a busy day inside Discovery and the station. Everyone was involved in one form of transfer or another.

If we get an answer we really don't like from the tests and analysis it would give us an opportunity to go outside and do something about this, although we don't expect that to be a likely outcome.

There haven't been many days in the last 2 1/2 years that I came in to work and wasn't thinking about them at some point or another.

There are folks that have the impression that NASA needs to fly this flight so that we can demonstrate that we really understand how to fly in space again. Well, that's not technically true. If we don't know that this is all going to work, we're not ready to fly ... You know you can do it again, but you got to do it again.
