I think Wendy plays a tougher schedule than I do.
I think it inspired the team so much. You could feel it in the gym.
I think they understand there is a lot of tradition here, and there's a lot of players that are upset. I've had phone calls. That just speaks volumes to what they've invested in this program. Still, they are like family. When we lose, they lose.
I think they took ownership of what did or did not happen. Obviously there was a glaring lack of leadership during the game, which was I thought a real factor in how we responded and our lack of being able to pull together during some adversity. I think we'll learn volumes from this loss. Now we understand how much better we have to be at that level.
We lost the ball game in the first half. I don't have any excuses for this team. I don't know when they're going to show up and play.
Parker has been handling the ball and bringing it up the floor, running some point as well. Ideally we'd like her closer to the basket, but it's not like she has to stay on the perimeter.
Candace makes everyone on the floor better. She does a great job.
Candace commented that she had a lot of shots that seemed to go halfway down and come back out. We had to grind it out, and I wasn't particularly happy with that, but was proud at the end. Our ball movement and player movement was stagnant at times.
That's a slap in your face. It's a slap in our program's face. I guess it's my fault for putting together the toughest schedule in the country year in and year out. But as far as I'm concerned we got no respect and I don't understand it.
That's a slap in your face. It's a slap in our program's face ... and I don't understand it.
The ladies had great energy today. The communication was key, and I could definitely see an improvement in their physical condition. They had an incredible off-season in the weight room.
I just wanted to put on a uniform for the first time in a long time and play defense.
The second half was a little more important to them.
If you can control the boards, you usually have a great deal of influence on how many possessions you get, how many opportunities you get from that. And I thought we got a lot of opportunities.
