choose definitely early excited garden kid man slam son telling wants
The young man was definitely excited about the Garden and St. John's, but it wasn't a slam dunk. Anthony told me early on: 'I'm not telling my kid where to go. We may be friends, but my son is going to choose where he wants to go.'
great people
They have a great player, he makes unbelievable shots. Most people don't make those shots.
deserve doubt good
They're a very, very, very good team. They deserve to be No. 1, no doubt about that.
gonna road turned turning win year
You're never gonna win on the road turning it over as many times as we did. We turned it over 27 times and that's the most turnovers I think we've had all year in a game.
basketball coming energy far playing putting shoot throughout
Anthony is getting better every game. He can really shoot the basketball, and he's coming into his own as far as putting it on the floor, rebounding and playing with energy throughout the whole game.
bombs credit guard hit player terrific tried
Give Quincy credit. We tried to guard him but he makes you pay. He's a terrific player and he hit some big-time bombs today.
emotional presence
Having Darryl back was a big emotional boost. He's such a presence on the floor.
defensive great hurts scoring
My team, we are not a great scoring team. And if we do not have a defensive mindset, that hurts us.
family
It was a family decision. I didn't feel there was any negativity. Cedric has to know he's been important to us.
beings biggest body gray great human job
Gray his huge. He's one of the biggest human beings I've ever seen. But he's done a great job getting his body in shape.
focused four guys hard kept kids knew playing proud ranked row stayed sticking stuck teams telling three together understood
I'm really, really proud of the kids. We kept telling the guys about sticking together. We went through a hard road, playing four nationally ranked teams in a row and three of them on the road. I'm proud that we stuck together and understood we could get it done if we just stayed focused and did the things we knew we could do.
attack basket energy half played second
In the second half we played with energy, we played hard. We had to attack the basket and we did.
dad decision felt good pressure process recruiting son worked
All through the recruiting process his dad was involved, but he wanted to let his son make his own decision. He didn't want his son to come to St. John's because he felt pressure to come to New York. His son made his own decision and I think it worked out pretty good for him.
against anybody basketball capable coming energy focus games good playing share teams win
These games show we are capable of playing with anybody if we have the focus and energy we need to have. Now we have games coming against non-ranked teams that are still good basketball teams and we have to play with the same passion. If we do that, we will win our share of games.
