I think we've allowed ourselves in this society to become a little bit arrogant. People have all sorts of reasons that they live in poverty, and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps isn't always an option. It's too often that we sweep something away when we come upon something better. We need to remember that the person struggling to get by has value too.

How can we ignore two of our most courageous runners who continued on with conviction and grace in spite of the most dreadful disease ever known: cancer. Sean Delaney and Steve Hancock must always be mentioned in the same breath as all the greats. Sean finished with honor and Steve continues his run. Both remind us that simply being able to run is what this is all about.
