I wasn't sure what to expect. It wasn't a bad first year for me as a head coach, but I didn't know what this year was going to bring.

I work in the fitness center in the school and he was there five days as week in the off-season. He throws strikes and he's very effective. I would say he's ready to have a good year.

We're young, no question about that. But we're lucky because we have some pretty good players. I wouldn't count us out. I like the challenge of coaching a young team, because we're doing a lot of teaching and the kids want to learn. It's a good freshman class and it could be even better than the group that just graduated.

I think it's going to be a fun year. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but now, after seeing these kids practice and play, I'm very optimistic. I can't wait to see what these kids can do. They just want to play. The well definitely has not run dry. I feel very lucky to get all these kids in.

The kid is tough. He's a good catcher already and I think he's going to be a good player.
