balance defense number players progress searching trying work
The players right now, like the coaches, are searching for an identity, ... With new players on defense, they are trying to find a balance of what we want to do and what the players do best. I think that is still, unfortunately, a work in progress and will be for a number of weeks.
offensive side work
Atrocious, ... We were out of rhythm, so we have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball. A lot of work to do.
passed point work
I think we've passed the point of having him anointed at any position. I think anything he earns now, he's got to work his way up the ladder.
earn four hard hopefully league love proved worked year
I think this year that I proved that I worked hard for four years to earn my stripes, and hopefully there will be other organizations around the league that will see it that way. I love to teach. I love to teach.
calls certainly formulate game help lighten load maybe offensive perfect staff steve taken week works
That would be a perfect scenario, where he works with that offensive staff through the whole week and works with Steve to formulate how the game will be called. Maybe Steve calls the game in, with the help of Jerry. But anything that can lighten the load of what I've taken on will be certainly fun.
based cold dreamed faces five happy knew work
Cold and sticky, like I always dreamed it would be. I'm just happy for the guys. I knew we were going to have to work hard, based on how new I am and all the new faces we have. I knew it was going to take some time. But I just didn't think it would take five games.
defense good honest looked offensive playing rhythm side work
Offensively it was atrocious. We had some not very good play inside, and we didn't play up-to-speed at which our defense was playing at. We looked too big and too sluggish. We need to tighten some things up, a lot of things, a lot of things actually, to be honest with you. We were out of rhythm so we have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball, a lot of work to do.
factions guys happy might
There are going to be factions in the building, ... There are guys that want Mooch to be there, and there are guys that might be happy he is gone.
averaged block free great guy man run
This young man averaged 1.87 (seconds) get-off in the game. Virtually, you could have a guy run free and he can't block the kick. So that's the great thing.
cut depth fair falling possibly
With all the young guys, D'Wayne was falling on the depth chart. It was not fair to keep him and then possibly cut him down the line.
anybody good
We're going to be as good as anybody offensively, ... Our quarterback is in a zone.
best brought pick since
best young lineman we've brought in since Birk (sixth-round pick in 1998).
ball best foot football moved ourselves playing shot
We moved the ball well all preseason, but we've shot ourselves in the foot too. We're not playing our best football right now, and I don't want us to play our best right now.
ball best football moved ourselves playing shot
We moved the ball well all preseason, but we've shot ourselves in the foot, too, ... We're not playing our best football right now, and I don't want us to play our best right now.
