Michael John "Mike" Sweeneyis a former Major League Baseball first baseman. Sweeney played his first 13 seasons in the majors with the Kansas City Royals, first as a catcher and then at first base. Sweeney also played for the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and Philadelphia Phillies. On March 25, 2011, Sweeney retired from baseball. I was just looking for a pitch to drive. I got a good slider to hit and got one into the gap,
He's got the stuff to go out and win 17, 18 games, ... He's a lefty with a fastball 95-97, a 12-to-6 curve and a good change.
We still only have 39 wins, but every person on the roster was into the game from the first pitch on. We were coming off the bench giving high-fives. We had a good shot in the arm of life. The win was a big part of that.
I know in the long run the fans will be behind us and we hope to put on a good show for our fans.
We came close tonight, but in baseball that's not good enough. Tough loss.
Dr. Steve Joyce said it would take four to six weeks to heal, which kind of scared me at first, but the good news is I injured it about 4 1/2 weeks ago.
