We wanted to score a little bit more than we did. We held them to 50, stayed on the boards, got some offensive rebounds. We did what we felt needed to be done. We just didn't hit our shots.

Needless to say, we're very happy. I'm very proud of these young ladies. They took a beating from me over those eight games that we lost. It's great for them to get some success.

Connecticut is a great team. We're just short-handed. We had to make it a sloppy game because it was the only way we could play right now. Our girls didn't quit.
That's a concern. But as long as we can keep eking out those wins, we'll take it.

We needed all the breaks this game for us to beat Rutgers and we got them. We'll take them every time we can get them. I'm just so proud of the girls. We were coming off a tough season. We lost eight in a row after Meg went down and we really couldn't find our identity. But right now I've never been prouder of a group of girls to really regroup and do the things they've done here in this tournament.

We're just short-handed. They were coming off the bench with All-Americans. We were coming off the bench with trainers. We had to make it a sloppy game because it was the only way we could play right now.

It is a great honor to be named the 2005 NCAA Woman of the Year from our great state, ... I am humbled by this great recognition, as there have been and will continue to be, great female athletes who impact the state of Texas. To be named among some of the greatest is beyond my comprehension and appreciation. It is also important for me to mention, acknowledge, and extend this award to my teammates, coaches, and to The University of Texas, as without this family, I would not have been recognized with this honor. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to my mom (Debbie Carey) and my dad (Mike Carey), as the two of them are truly my heart.

You've got to shoot it. You have to live and die by your shooters. They packed it in and made us shoot from the perimeter. We just didn't hit our shots.

As a competitor, you don't want to qualify for your conference tournament, because, not only did you lose, but someone else also lost, which is why you got in. You really want to get in by winning.
