We haven't communicated that much since Christmas. It sounds crazy, but sometimes the less we talk, the easier it is. When John emails me his messages are short and not that personal.

When you marry a soldier, you marry the country. I am so proud of what John is doing. Our daughter says the Pledge of Allegiance and has a flag in her room. When we talk about Daddy, we talk about how he is helping other people. We keep as positive as possible. I have taught the kids to display respect to the soldiers they see in uniform. I don't like the fact that John's over there, but I am so proud of him.

It's hard to find time and energy for everything. I want to make sure I give the kids everything they need. The dishes and laundry may have to wait if my children want me to read a book to them.
