college continues proud teammate terrific year
Really, the thing I'm most proud about is, he continues to get better each year that he's been in college. He's a terrific kid, but he's a better teammate for our program.
fight shot
He had to fight for every shot and every point.
against caught difference game guy huge hurt known player players role step uncommon
That caught all of us off guard. That's a huge difference in the game is that you have a guy who's not known as a scorer, who's known as a role player ... in our losses, that's really what's hurt us: Some role players step up and make some uncommon 3s against us.
impact passing pride selfless takes
His impact has been far-reaching for our program. He is really a selfless player. Jared takes so much pride in passing the basketball.
catch fire games played start team winning
Canisius hasn't played to their expectations. But I think they are a team that is going to catch fire and start winning games in this league.
anytime everybody great points win
Anytime you can win by that many points and get everybody in and get contributions from everybody is a great thing.
approach ball easy eye foul james marvelous next player playing propensity stay trouble turn
I never know from game-to-game if James is going to stay out of foul trouble or make easy shots. He has a propensity to turn the ball over. I never know from game-to-game where James is this year. Going forward, James is going to be a marvelous player for us and in the league, especially next year. But this year, I keep an eye on how he's playing and what his approach is.
feelings hard hired jimmy moving
I only hired him with Jimmy's blessing. Jimmy evidently has some hard feelings that he can't let go, it's unfortunate and we're moving on.
close difficult respect small style
In the close games, they made the small plays. We have a lot of respect for them. They play a style that is difficult to guard.
guy high level played year
He's the most indispensable guy on our team. He's played at such a high level all year long.
change chip higher shoulders
I don't want us to look at this like we're the higher seed. To me, Marist historically has not done well in the MAAC tournament. We need to change that. We need to have a chip on our shoulders when we play these games.
conference kids represent wait
I'm not going to tell the kids it's likely. It's out of our hands. We'll just have to wait and see. It would be great, however, and I know we'd represent our conference well.
ball body floor guard hard key lane line punch running scoring swinging throwing
The key for us is throwing the ball in the lane and getting some baskets. To me it's like a body punch in boxing. You just can't keep swinging at the head, which is sometimes what we do with the 3-point line. You have to make them feel it in the lane. ... If we are scoring in the lane and scoring from the 3-point line and Jared is running the ball down the floor and getting lay-ups, sometimes it's hard to guard our team.
