I felt like we had as good a chance this year to be in the fight as we had in any other year. I'm not really surprised, but I guess a lot of people thought it was doomsday.
I felt good when we had them down there because if we get a stop, we're in good shape. But they just executed their offense perfectly. It seemed like their quarterback (White) made the right decision almost every time.
I felt like, looking at the season to this point, we probably haven't taken enough shots downfield to loosen things up,
With Shockley, he becomes a weapon himself with his ability to run above and beyond the basics, ... You've got to be an accurate passer, you've got to be a good decision-maker, you've got to be able to handle the pressure of the job and you've got to be a leader. He is all those things, plus he has the bonus of being able to run. It's exciting for us.
There are a couple key offensive tackles I would love to have at this point.
We'll have to prepare as if Joe is our starter right now.
We've got a lot of experience. We've got a lot more depth. These guys know what they're doing. They've played together a lot.
This week will be tough on him. One of reasons you come to Georgia is to play in this game.
When D.J. first got hurt, it was sad. We didn't know how bad, he didn't know how bad it was. We were thinking his career at Georgia could be over right then and there. That would have been awful. We would have tried to sugarcoat it as best we could, but it would have been sad for him and for us.
We kept our poise. We stayed united. No finger pointing when bad things happened.
We thought by now T.J. would be practicing.
We're pulling him off of that duty right now.
The good news, ... is that some guys have been able to come in and get some experience.
We put the onus on the defense one more time and they made the plays again, thankfully. Running game, field position, defense. It isn't pretty sometimes.
