We just turned our defense up and the shots went down for us. It's huge because we haven't had a close game in region yet. This is just what we need going into the state tournament.

We just peaked at the right time. There were five really good teams. I'm just ecstatic for my boys. (Riverton coach) Steve Galley did a tremendous job; that was a great high school basketball game.

We had some different kids make some big shots. I thought Davey Johnson was huge early when we were struggling. And then our normal guys made some big shots and did some good things.

Brett was shooting the ball no matter what because he's the best player in the state of Utah.

That was a huge comeback for us. It was a situation where these kids played hard and wanted to win.

We were 10-deep on purpose. We wanted to make sure we weren't scared to play anyone in the tournament.

I don't know that it was easy, but it's just nice to have the newspaper here and get a win, because we were 0-2.

I feel like we got outplayed in the second half. American Fork come out physical and did a fine job of turning the game around. Fortunately we made a few free throws at the end and did what we had to do to win.

When we played Davis in the past, we trapped them and zoned them and threw a lot of stuff at them. But we came into this game and said flat out we were going to man up and see who's better.

The one thing we didn't want to do was to have the lead and tighten up, so with the lead down the stretch, we looked to push the pace.

I thought they did a tremendous job of turning (the physical play) up and doing what they needed to do to make us struggle. But if we make our free throws down the stretch we win this game easily.

The ranking early was nice, but it ended up hurting us a little bit because our kids thought they were the No. 1 team and didn't realize how hard they were going to have to work to win basketball games.
