It's funny. In the spring, a lot of people had us finishing fourth or fifth in our division. Some people had Detroit finishing ahead of us, and a couple had Kansas City finishing ahead of us. It just shows you the way our guys came out and didn't care what people thought.
(Pitching coach Don) Cooper came over and asked me after the ninth inning, asked me how I felt. I said, 'You sent me back out there in the ninth to face Vladimir, you might as well send me back out there.
If he's such a team leader, then why is he on so many teams? He's on a different team every year. I really don't think he was one of our leaders last year. He came to the field, and there wasn't anyone else that came ready to play and hustle as much as he did during the season, but I think he might be a little mad because he's not on our team anymore. I don't know.
The Cardinals thing, I don't really know if I could sign with them, to be honest with you. If the Cardinals and White Sox came in and said, 'Here, five years for the same amount of money' or slightly apart, I don't know if I could sign with the Cardinals. There's a lot of stuff that comes with that, a lot of distractions. I've talked to people that play in their hometown, and they say it's almost too big of a distraction.
I knew I had to settle down. I knew we wouldn't score a lot off Burnett.
St. Louis has a better offense, but Houston has a better pitching staff. Either way you look at it, it's not going to be easy.
Once I got taken out, I gave high-fives to everybody on the offense. I said, 'Thanks for picking me up.
It's nice to start opening day and then I can get my ring and enjoy it.
The faster you work, the better off you're going to be, ... I just don't see any reason to go out there and waste time. Just get out there and throw the ball.
I keep hearing stuff that my arm is hurt and I'm injured. I don't know where this is coming from, but I feel fine.
I hung the ball the first couple of innings. Location-wise I didn't have it.
I'm able to control my emotions pretty good. But it's a little different situation this year.
I've heard rumours, so it's not just me saying this. I've heard it from tons of people. It's not just me saying this. ... Something's going on because they hit so good at home. The way they hit here, you'd have to raise an eyebrow to figure something's going on. Look at the stats. I'm not just making this up.
