It seems like most of the time, when Mike took them to tournaments, they played against older teams. It seemed like he tried to give them really good competition. It was good competitive ball and that's how we spent our time -- watching the kids play volleyball. It was pretty much year 'round.

There's not the same activism as there was before, and I think there needs to be more of that.

When they were off of the court, they had true genuine friendships. They spent a lot of time together off of the court. I think a lot of the time it doesn't happen. We always thought that that was kind of a neat thing.

The volleyball families lived in our neighborhood. It's been tradition in some of these families to pass the interest in volleyball through generation to generation.
