body camp coming determination expect offensive passion saw training
I didn't even expect it coming through training camp. But what I saw in training camp was passion and desperation. It had nothing to do with his offensive skills. It was a determination to put his body on the line. He just jumped right out.
wanting watched
He thought he could finish. But when I watched the first one with him not wanting to go down, I could tell he was favoring it.
areas counted determined flashy good key nod picture player situations team thinks wants
He's a player now that is a lot more determined to be good in all areas of the ice. He really wants to be part of the big team picture and be counted on in important situations, not just the flashy offense. He wants the nod in the key situations where he thinks now that he can make a difference.
anxious cleared dose giving good later physical rule stuff
He's anxious to play. He's cleared for physical stuff in practice, which we're giving him a pretty good dose of today. . . . I wouldn't rule him out for later in the week.
When challenged, he was flopping around like a half-dead fish.
areas bit consistent defensive game looking offense penalty pitch pressure relieve
We need to do more offensively. If we're better offensively it will relieve a little bit of the pressure on our goaltenders so that they don't always have to pitch a one-goal game for us to get points. Our penalty killing and defensive play has always been strong, so more offense and more consistent goaltending are the two areas we are looking to improve.

found happen left might players rumors time wondering
This time of the year, players are always wondering what could happen or what might happen, and there's always rumors. There's rumors that come out of left field. Some of the rumors are often found to be true, but a lot of them are not.
behind chance knock
We had a chance to knock him down behind the net. That play there was disappointing.
broke broken easier few good home
The good part is that it was broke up by getting home for a day before Toronto, and now home for a few more days. It's now been broken down to a one-game trip, so it's a lot easier to digest.
run
We used him how we want to use him. He's going to run and hit, and we're going to make plays.
bigger elevated evident looking offer played players
The one thing that's evident is that when some players got elevated in bigger roles, they've played even better. I still think there's players that have more to offer in a bigger role. They're always looking for a bigger role, and now they get their opportunity.
man rushes
We only had two odd-man rushes the whole night.
contact ran situation strength tampa until
When we put him in contact situation and we ran him through some drills in Tampa Bay, he didn't do so well. The strength isn't there yet. We're not going to put him in until he's in a situation where he doesn't feel like he's handicapped.
