Hopefully we can put some smiles on their faces and maybe for just that little moment they cannot think about what happened.
That's what keeps me humble because I know my background, know what my mother went through. I never get too high on my stardom or what I can do. My mom always says and my friends all say, ’You're just a very low-maintenance guy’. I don't need too much. Glamour and all that stuff don't excite me. I am just glad I have the game of basketball in my life.
I hear my friends and my mom tell me I'm special, but honestly, I still don't get it.
When I was 5, some financial things happened, and I moved seven times in a year. We moved from apartment to apartment, sometimes living with friends. My mom would always say, 'Don't get comfortable, because we may not be here long.'
Being the only man in the household with my mom definitely helped me grow up fast.
For me, already being part of a single parent household and knowing it was just me and my mom, you'd would wake up times and hope that the next day you'd be able to be alongside your mother because she was out trying to make sure that I was taken care of. But all I cared about was her being home.
My mom and I have always been there for each other. We had some tough times, but she was always there for me.
Individual accolades come when your team is successful. It showed (Sunday).
I know that hard fouls are going to happen. They've been reading up on the clippings about me leading the league in 'and-ones', so they did a good job of trying to foul me before I got the ball up. That's just playoff basketball. I've always said that I could take those hits. All in all, the Wizards did a great job of coming in here and beating us.
I knew this was going to be a great game. We just made the best plays at the end of the game.
I knew I had to be aggressive. This was an important game. What's awesome is that we won the season series and have done a great job in our division.
It's sprained pretty good, but nothing serious. You never really know until the next day, but I've had them before, and this is nothing that bad.
Eight years is a long time. To experience that in his first year and then wait another eight years to get back, it's tough for him. You have to feel excited for him. It's awesome.
The atmosphere was unbelievable. This must be what playoff basketball is all about.
