being-in-love taste causes
Surely being in love doesn't cause you to lose your sense of good taste. If I ever buy a gown with sequins on it, someone just shoot me.
inspirational learning years
He was twenty. I remembered twenty. I'd known everything at twenty. It took me another year to realize I knew nothing. I was still hoping to learn something before I hit thirty, but I wasn't holding my breath.
long people willing
I'd been willing to kill for the people I loved for a very long time; now I had to start living for them.
beautiful flower eye
A flower may be beautiful all on its own, but a person is never truly beautiful unless someone's eyes show him that he is beautiful.
cost favors
Friends don't count the cost of favors.
writing people fiction
I cannot say how strongly I object to people using other people's writing as research. Research is non-fiction, especially for horror, fantasy, science fiction. Do not take your research from other people's fiction. Just don't.
literature clue preference
What we prefer to read is sort of like sexual preference, you like what you like. Most of the time you have no clue why.
thinking detectives
I think like a detective.
morning not-a-morning-person morning-person
I am not a morning person.
kissing giving want
I want a kiss to be so believable it gives the reader shivers.
writing magic literature
One of my rules is never explain. A writer is a lot like a magician, if you explain how the trick works then a lot of the magic turns mundane.
attention conventions greetings
I like conventions. I like meeting and greeting. I'm perched on that edge where I'm getting more attention than I quite know what to do with, though.
book writing thinking
Perfection is an unattainable goal. It isn't going to be perfect. Just get words down on paper, and when you stumble to what you think is the end of the book, you will have hundreds of pages of words that came out of your head. It may not be perfect, but it looks like a book.
nice evil might
Still it might be nice, once in a while, not to have to choose between evils. Just once, couldn't I choose the lesser good?
