Larry Edward Cokeris an American football coach and former player. From 2001 to 2006, Coker served as the head coach at the University of Miami. His 2001 Miami team was named the consensus national champion after an undefeated season that culminated with a victory in the Rose Bowl over Nebraska. I've been pleasantly surprised with him. He's done a great job. I thought he could be a good player, but the way he handles his body ... he's a big guy and he's out there switching his hips, being able to maneuver, covering smaller receivers. I've been very impressed.

We're disappointed. Guys wanted to play. Obviously we're in a pretty good rhythm now and want to have an opportunity to get better. We'll just make the best of it.

There's no question our guys were not satisfied with last season. There was some embarrassment there. You could say there is a sense of urgency on this team.

There's obviously a lot of distraction. I can't say there's not. A lot of the guys are without power, certainly the coaches are without power, a lot of those things. But they've dealt with it pretty well, practiced pretty good the last couple of days. Guys have been here and gone to work.

Will (Phillips) make mistakes? I'm sure he will. But he's a guy that is also a big playmaker and may make (opponents) make some mistakes also.

I don't think we have slipped talent-wise. I think we're talented enough to play with anybody. But I do sense our guys are not happy, not satisfied, and they shouldn't be, with last season. There really was some embarrassment there for all of us. No doubt, there is a sense of urgency. We need to go out with excitement, with hunger, every week. We had that at times last season, but not all the time. I guess you could point the finger at me, but we did not play with consistency.

We had a great day today. We didn't have a full contingent of coaches. Guys burned the midnight oil and spent the extra effort. We feel like we brought in a tremendous class.

We have good players. Now who will be a great player or All-American? Some of those guys will be around here and have a chance to do those things if our team is good. If our team is not good, those things probably will disappear.

We're not going to let this be an excuse. We're not going to let this set us back. We're going to do whatever we need to do to be ready to play. Probably the most disappointed, upset guys it affects more is the coaches. The players, they're going to do whatever we ask them to do.
