It was funny, during the making of this movie I was really sad because you're not getting anything back and you're giving so much to so many other people. I feel like that's the way Claire was. She spends a lot of time on other people, giving people advice and learning about people; and she doesn't really take care of herself in that way.
There are a lot of charismatic people in this industry ... and I can understand why people on location get together.
They're the ones who saw 'Titanic' eight times, ... Those are the people who keep paying, and like, there really isn't other things for teen-agers to do -- especially when you live in certain places. There's the movie theater, there's the mall, and that's pretty much it.
I can't believe people buy into it because we have a movie coming out. I don't really care.
I've been lucky to find people who want to work with me, whom I respect and like, but the truth is there aren't that many good projects out there. And we make way, way too many movies. So it's not always going to happen with every project. But I try and wait it out.

It's always nice when people appreciate your work because it means you've affected them, which is great. And so that feels good.
I just want to be a good friend to people, that's all.

For me, my favourite actresses are like Charlotte Rampling or Gena Rowlands... people who have always stepped outside of the restraints of a certain type of woman or story. I always like those movies the best.
Most people ask me questions based on a previous interview. That's not an interview. It's like they're just saying my quotes back to me.
I get along really well with Lars [von Trier] but definitely during our first meetings I was feeling him out and he definitely says some things that are inappropriate and then you kind of get his sense of humour. I really enjoy him. He's one of my favourite people I've met now. So, he's pretty great.
So many teen films are overproduced and people are going to burnout on the subject.
People always tell me, 'Don't work so much', but I can't help it. I feel like all the things I've done are important to get to this adult stage and now I'm getting all these adult offers, so it's working.
