She's a first-year senior doing a real nice job. She's going into the military next year and she's running to get in shape for that.

It doesn't get any worse than what it was. But my kids competed and that's what we wanted to do. We had some good teams down here. We got it in and that's what it's all about.

Not bad. This was a good meet for us. It really was. It was a very well-ran meet. It's always good to get a good meet under your belt, especially against local competition.

Kevin Bass did a fantastic job and Givens, for his first meet since junior high did a real nice job. Givens is going to be a good one for us. I think he found out what track and field is about today. He's a tired young man.

He's been given a bad draw in football and basketball, to me. He felt he should have been the man. Things didn't work out. He had some problems occur, but he's been showing fantastic leadership and work ethic.

Our girls did well considering the weather. They can do better. As the weather gets prettier and they start to realize what it takes to compete, they'll get better.

The kids performed pretty well. They ran some (personal records) but against the competition that they faced ... it was just a nice meet for them.

I'm excited about it. I'm hoping our girls can do well. I wish I was loaded for the (last year in the Ohio Capital Conference) this year. I know I'll have some champions, but as a team it's hard to say. We can't ever put all the pieces together. But I've got a lot of good young girls.

I don't think Ellen Davis lost an event as an eighth grader. She's in our top three to throw (today).

All I ask for is to compete. If they compete and show a good attitude, good things will happen. If they don't, they won't be on my track team. I'd like to just sort of thank my assistant coaches for hanging with us. We're glad to get the program back in line.
