It was good. I played pretty well. I could have made a few more putts, but I'm not going to complain. To shoot 2 under, I was fortunate to go out early (before the wind picked up).

Being out here in the flat and so exposed, they are going to get pretty firm. But like David (Duval) said, if you get some winds here, some cross winds, it's going to be very hard to put the ball in the fairway.

I spent a lot of time working on my game, adjusting to the new equipment. I found that I got back some excitement that maybe I had been missing the last few years.

The third green is pretty severe for a 245-yard par 3. The right side of the green goes up and down. It looks like something I skied down a coupled of months ago.

Guys are little more relaxed here, ... You don't have the media buildup. The intensity is there, but for whatever reason the pressure is different. This event, you don't think about it until you get here. With the Ryder Cup, six months out people start talking about this and that. The next thing you know is we're all white-knuckled.

Yeah. We are very excited. I feel fortunate because we didn't plan anything. But it's at a time of the year where I can take this much time off.

Memories like that help. We all have something like that we can pull upon. Maybe not in a match-play situation, but in some kind of tournament where you did something that maybe you weren't sure you would be able to pull it off. That can become infectious.
