We are not interested in hiding. We are interested in being open and transparent. We want to serve the community and the lake together. The compact is clear on our mission of maintaining the equilibrium between natural landscape and man-made environment. It is very challenging, because you do have differing opinions about Lake Tahoe and how it should be managed.

This is not looking at management strategies. In other words, these (meetings) are more conceptually what we're looking for... what our goals should be; what the vision should be.... Implementation is not the point we're at.

Their group has not yet formed. They have just been kind of organizing as local government representatives on the South Shore but have not formalized their working group or organized with the public.

The Emerald Bay rest day was one of the most hotly contested items in Alternative 6 and we will be addressing that in a different way in this preferred alternative. There are a lot of points that are going to be different, that being one of them.
