Stories come from violence, they come from sex. They come from death. They come from the dark places that everyone has to go to, kind of wants to, or doesn't, but needs to deal with. If you raise a kid to think everything is sunshine and flowers, they're going to get into the real world and die. That's the reason fairy tales are so creepy, because we need to encapsulate these things, to inoculate ourselves against them, so that when we're confronted by the genuine horror that is day-to-day life we don't go insane.
Giles: Smell is the most powerful trigger to the memory there is. A certain flower, or a a whiff of smoke can bring up experiences long forgotten. Books smell musty and-and-and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer is a - it, uh, it has no no texture, no-no context. It's-it's there and then it's gone. If it's to last, then-then the getting of knowledge should be, uh, tangible, it should be, um, smelly.
I loved working with 'The Avengers' cast and we had a great time, but it was a job, and they had other commitments during that job, so they would go off and do other things.
I like horror; I like comedy; I like drama; I like action; I like female heroes.
I like my chances. But it is absolutely still too amorphous for me to make any kind of announcement about it. I'm out there trying, and there's other people trying, to put it together. But until something falls in place, I really can't say.
I'm not big on regret; I don't spend a lot of time on it.
I kept telling my mom that reading comic books would pay off.
I love TV in a way that I don't love any other medium.
I'm probably going to turn it in in a few days. It's coming along. ... There will be all of the expected stuff. Of course there will be the bracelets; there will be the invisible jet, the lasso, all of that.
I had this extraordinary world I helped create, with this cast I felt were the most extraordinary people I'd worked with, who were born to play these parts,
I'm very much more interested in the created family than I am in actual families.
I like to think that I'm a populist entertainer, but I'm a little bit idiosyncratic, and sometimes the networks wouldn't really roll with that.
I've had so much success. I had something to say, I got to say it, people heard it, and they agreed. That's every artist's dream. That's the brass ring.
It's very sweet to mention the word sequel, ... Obviously that's the way my brain works. It continues to tell stories. So it's inevitable for me that I do that, and of course I love this universe. I love these people, and I would jump at the chance to do it again.
