I make appearance at local park and recreation agencies when the program starts, when they have the qualifying meets at the local levels. Then I try to go to the regional competitions, and of course I'm there in Hershey, Pa., in August for the North American final.
brother competition cut lost pounds spot tough
I lost to my brother during tryouts, so I had to cut down to 103 pounds to have a spot on the varsity lineup. I had never experienced that kind of competition before, so it was a tough adjustment, but I did all right.

I lost a lot more in the big picture running out of gas and going down a couple laps. Coming down pit road without your tachometer, you have a pit road speeding violation, so I think it's a worse feeling to run out then play it conservative.
