John Shepard
John Shepard IIIwas an American radio executive and merchant. Among his many achievements, he was one of the original board members of the National Association of Broadcasters, having been elected the group's first Vice President in 1923. Shepard co-founded a New England radio network, known as the Yankee Network, along with his brother Robert, in 1929-1930. We continued our steps of improvement from the West Mesa game; we continued with the same steps and even did better. That was maybe our most quality win; that and Los Alamos. We did what we're supposed to do.

It's a huge step above, in my opinion; a good test for us. I've maintained one of our strengths is our depth. I wish we had three or four more days (to get ready). This is the hardest (pre-district slate) we've ever had - just the Sandia Prep tournament - three defending state champs.

We did OK. We played better than we did the first day ... change in focus, change in attitude. (They didn't come out ready to play. I was real pleased with leadership; the players came out and did it themselves.

I think we worked hard; it just didn't work our way today. I don't think I can point to (a turning point). Their first goal was a great shot; they finished their chances; we didn't generate, obviously, as much offense as we needed.

After the team meeting there will be another meeting in the cafeteria for the parents of both boys and girls teams. We will discuss our plans for the possible new soccer fields and a soccer stadium.

I know West Mesa's an up-and-coming program. They've been building steadily. We're going to have to be physical all the time because we're small.
