accept anybody deal difficult effort failure focus game greater helps plays practice prepared scouting seen since sure sustain toward
I've seen since Pac-10 started a greater focus in practice toward the game plan, the scouting report. He's absorbing more. The more anybody invests into something with a commitment; you don't accept failure as easy. You are better prepared to sustain effort and focus. It sure helps us when he plays like that. He's more difficult to deal with.
framework game offense practiced stuff within
The stuff he's doing is within the framework of the offense because he's practiced at game speed.
ability defense early foul game hurt rebound trouble year
Marcel getting into foul trouble early in the game hurt us. His ability to rebound is something that has made our defense better all year long.
ball confidence experiment game good great guys playing somewhere start
I was pretty comfortable with how those guys were defending, and I thought we had pretty good ball movement. I didn't need to experiment or try anything else. I had great confidence in that group. I didn't start the game like I was going to play seven. Somewhere in there I said to myself I'm only playing seven.
ended fact game obviously plain rest
Obviously going down 21-2, we were buried, plain and simple. We were buried. The fact the rest of the game ended up the way it did (was better). The game was over.
changing eight game good job played prepared progress recognize respect team time
We've prepared ourselves, and we've made progress as a team through 11 games. We haven't played a team like that in respect to changing defenses all the time. To recognize defenses all the time and play a game with only eight turnovers, I thought we did a good job with our patience.
coach difficult doubt dug found game huge ourselves pleased
Thursday's game was difficult for me as a coach to endure. Today's was not. I'm pleased today. We dug ourselves a huge hole, no doubt about it, but we found a rhythm.
basketball best coach difficult excited game locker minutes played pleased practicing room since state washington
Thursday's game was a difficult game to coach and endure. Today's was not. It was the best 40 minutes of basketball we've played since Washington State (on Jan. 21). There's an enthusiastic locker room that is excited about practicing on Monday. From those things, I'm pleased today.
bad defend deserve games happy hard interested practice run season team understand winning work
It wasn't that he had a bad attitude. He had no attitude. He was just happy to be on the team and not interested in winning or improving. He didn't understand how hard you had to work in practice at this level. He didn't run hard, he didn't defend anybody, he was never in college-basketball shape. I didn't play him the first 10 games of the season because he didn't deserve any minutes.
annual games good guys home
It's a good thing; good for the guys to get some home games early. We'll want to make it an annual thing.
bad game hard josh passionate question time worked
He'll need some time to heal, and then he'll get back into things. There's no question he'll be behind, however. I feel really bad for Josh because he has worked so hard and he is so passionate about the game and his development.
game opinion played speaks
Their opinion of this game doesn't really matter. How we played speaks for itself.
assistant coach games key missing players
In all my years as a coach and an assistant coach in this league, I don't know that there's ever been more key players missing games than this year.
believe buy dispute fight game good mindset practiced says
And if he says that, I don't get that. I don't buy that at all for this game for these guys. We practiced well. We practiced hard. We had good energy. I completely dispute that. For the (Arizona State) game, I believe we didn't come with the mindset to fight and compete.
