The most devastating thing was the level of tragedy, with the land and burned up livestock. The fire front at one point was 31 miles wide.

It is difficult to determine the cause of grass fires. There is usually nothing left behind when we get there, like a cigarette or a gas can, for us to determine what started it.

The ammunition delayed the firemen from attacking the fire aggressively. We couldn't get too close and that let the fire get a head start and get away from us.
