field fuel plenty saying top toughest won
I've been saying that this is the toughest (Funny Car) field I've ever seen, ... Scelzi, he's smart. He's won championships (three in the Top Fuel division) before. And Capps is plenty shrewd, too. My hat's off to 'em, right now.
anybody expect left middle racing till
I'm here to tell them that anybody can be beat, but it ain't over till I say it's over. There's a lot of racing left and we expect to be right in the middle of it.
chiefs chris crew encourages enjoyed four involved last national personally program racing salute
We've enjoyed being involved in the SYNTEC Outperformers program these last four years, ... because it encourages the young individuals who'll be the racing crew chiefs of the future. I want to personally salute Chris Burd as the national scholarship winner.
team trouble win wrong
We've had some trouble this year, but there's nothing wrong with me and nothing wrong with this team that a win wouldn't fix,
ball bit experience hard points quit racing suck
We need to go after these guys, ... We need to quit racing scared. When you're (in the points lead), you always back off a little bit and play it safe. But now I ain't in the lead. I've got nothing to lose. So let's play hard ball because I've got too much experience to suck this bad.
lead lose next points round turned
Next week, it can be turned right back around. Next week, I can come out and lose in the first round and they'll take the points lead again.
add matter
That's still two rounds, no matter how you add it up,
against both chunk crew employees guys kids lose money paycheck quite races shot win work year
It's both. Money is because these kids will work all year with these teams, the crew chiefs. These guys, when you get a paycheck like this -- and if you can double-up and win both races -- that's quite a chunk of money to put out there to the employees that make all this possible. Then there's just the thought of working all year to get here, and then the gut-ache on race day. If you win it's victory, if you lose it's gut-ache. Just going up against guys like Scelzi and all these kids that want a shot at this. I really get up for it. It's really big if you can win it because it's two races in one. That's what's a turn-on for me.
almost good hot rod sure win
I've got a good old hot rod here. I'm almost embarrassed. ... Quickest don't win you championships and it don't win you races. But it sure makes you feel good.
behind coming competition forward gets guys looking money program putting robert thank together tough
Nothing gets old. It's always exciting, especially with the competition that we've put together this year. The guys that have made this Showdown, it was tough to make it. Robert Hight coming from behind made our program look real good, but I'm really looking forward to Indy, and I really want to thank Skoal for putting up the money to make this possible.
gut guys kinda might mistake pass races running three
It's kinda exciting, ... after you get over the gut ache you have every morning. But everybody's running out of races now. You can't make a mistake because two or three guys might pass you.
ahead air bit bunch cars paying running stay stuff three track win work year
The tune-up was good, the track is good, and the air is good, that's what it takes. If you want to win a bunch of championships you have to stay ahead of the curve. We started working on this stuff a year ago and it bit us but now the work is paying off and all three cars are running good.
ask wrong
They ask me, 'what the hell's wrong with you?,'
worked worry
It's in the gut. It hurts, ... But we've been through this before. We won't panic. We'll go on doing it the same way it's worked for us for 14 years. Don't worry about this old man.
