asking bad ball bounce definitely plus turn
We definitely competed. I feel bad for the guys. They competed for 90 plus minutes. You're just asking for a break, just for a ball to bounce your way. That's all it's going to take to turn it around.
definitely match pride team themselves work
They said they didn't play 'United soccer,' ... They pride themselves on their work ethic. They're definitely a hard-working team and we'll have to match that.
against backs freddy good strike tough wall
They had our backs up against the wall a lot of the time, but we were able to get the strike from Freddy at the end to make the difference. It's good to know we've advanced, but we still have to concentrate on Spain, which will be a tough test.
impression last looking obviously year
They're looking to make an impression that they're better than last year and obviously we need to do the same.
added chart deeper depth group improve overall players size speed team trying
As a group of players I feel that our depth chart is much deeper this season. We went about trying to improve our team speed and size and added overall better players with these additions.
bad ball created game midfield ourselves situations turn
Story of the game was how many times can we turn the ball over in the midfield and created bad situations for ourselves defensively.
couple gotten matter shooting shots
Now it's a matter of getting better shooting opportunities. I thought we had a couple of instances where we could've done better. We could've gotten more shots off.
good itself talent team win work
D.C. is a very good team that prides itself on its work ethic, ... I've already said that if you've got talent and if you work hard, they're going to win a lot of games.
attack ball fight gave lost principle stood watched win
I thought we gave the ball away. I thought we stood there and watched them attack our goal. The first principle of defending, once the ball is lost you fight to win it back, and we didn't fight to win it back.
defense field jeff keeps
Jeff hasn't scored yet, but for his side, just Jeff being on the field keeps their defense honest.
exciting huge missed scoring threat
I think it's huge just to get him back on the field. His leadership, his determination, his abilities, his threat of scoring goals, it's just exciting to have him back. We've missed him.
best card gets smartest yellow
I think the smartest thing to do would be to not use Freddy. If he gets another yellow card he will be out for second-round match. So I think the best thing to do would be to give him a rest.
bury matter pick pressure spot
Gomez, Jaime, Freddy, they can play some ball. If you don't put pressure on them, they're going to pick their spot and they're going to bury it. It really doesn't matter who was in goal.
burst came coming fine pad picked push since solid stepped toe turn
He's been solid since we picked him up. I think someone stepped on his toe or something so that's why he came out of the game. We put a little pad under it, so I think that's why he wasn't able to turn and push but he was fine coming back for the ball. But after that he didn't have that burst that he had in the first half.
